X82 "Pike" Vengeant-Class Starjet
The X82 Pike, manufactured by Gadyuka Industries, is a redux of the highly acclaimed X70 Javelin airframe specifically re-engineered for operation in extra-atmospheric, 0G conditions, and is one of the earliest and most successful Vengeant-class vehicles on the market. Though somewhat outdated, the Pike's reliability and modularity has ensured that it remains a common sight in GATE, corporate and militia fleets.
Nicknamed the "Guthammer" by some of its earliest pilots, the Pike is somewhat notorious for its lack of G-force compensation systems, which make it an incredibly nimble fighter--especially when accounting for its incredible speed--but only in the hands of pilots with high G-force tolerance. Hangar crews, meanwhile, tend to find issue with the simply astronomical amount of fuel required to maintain its agility for more than a few minutes at a time. Early models had severe issues with running out of fuel mid-flight, and while later models were issued with larger fuel tanks to combat this problem, they quickly became known as highly flammable death traps, and it wasn't until the 4th run of production (officially designated the X82∆) that the Pike was issued with both adequate fuel capacity and the necessary armor and fire suppression systems. Despite these problems, the Pike remains a well-respected vessel, capable of rapidly bringing the heat to any fight occurring in the endless expanses of the cosmos.
