Rock Gnome

The rock gnomes of Mistral make their homes under the mountain range known as the Bluffs. Centuries ago, they lived in stone towers and settlements above ground, but the orcs of the Uzos Steppe were constantly raiding their villages. This constant onslaught of attacks caused the rock gnomes to retreat underground, hiding their homes with clever construction and illusions. 
Despite making peace with the orcs many, many years ago, rock gnomes still tend to have a paranoid outlook on life. Their villages are usually protected by a number of mechanical and magical traps, and there is a saying among the people of Mistral... "Never enter a gnomes home without permission, or you may find yourself missing a few toes."
