Two questions about items I am confused about. Firstly, why didn't, Earl Denyl Lynnaeus' brother become king? Secondly, according to Kabe's lineage chart, he should be named, Kabe Lynnaeus, why has he taken his mother's last name Araku?
My logic. Earl Denyl's intention was to place his nephew on the throne and on his death his brother followed through with the plan. By making him an Araku the Lynnaeus would control both the estates from each Clan, possibly for a decade, maybe a generation. With the Araku vassals, massively out numbering those of the Lynnaeus, gaining their oath of fealty and taxes would be much easily with an Araku on the throne, hence less chance of a rebellion down the line. Plus the clerical and fighting orders and Agrik would be more likely follow an Araku than Lynnaeus. That is the plan anyway, many nobles may not accept that logic and I expect turbulent times ahead as Vavryse Lynnaeus is not as brilliant as has brother. Also any loyalty is in question with Chafin III heir escaping and is living in exile in the Republic with his mother. A possible plot hook for the future. I also considered what happened in Kanday. King Andasin IV is the son of Earl Ranald Milaka but now controls Clan Kand.
