Temple of Ilvir - Church of Sudelrhynn, the Bearer of Loam

This large Ilviran temple is headquarters of the Order of Sudelrhynn. the Bearer of Loam.

It is a work of art, decorated with elaborate and fanciful carvings of Ilvir’s children, the Ivashu. All manner of Ivashu are represented from the gargoyle-like umbathri, the giant hru, the troll-like nolah, the smelly aklash, the eye-eating vlaster, and many other creatures can be seen amidst the stonework. Visitors often spend hours wandering around the temple, just admiring the many obvious and carefully disguised carvings.

The temple is also an important hub for pilgrims on their long journey to Araka-Kalai, and the faithful often camp around the temple. The High Priest of this church is well respected and generally considered the most senior member of the Ilviran clergy.

Temple Assets

Hall of Ritual

The temple’s main chamber is lined with tapestries that depict various scenes drawn from the Ilviran mythos and lit by the three east windows and large domed braziers.

The library

The library contains some unique or rare manuscripts. This room also doubles as a meeting hall for the temple leadership.

Nearby Buildings

The temple complex includes some smaller buildings containing kitchens, workshops, and housing for visitors, acolytes, and servants. The workshops produce wood carvings, jewelry, illuminated manuscripts, fine metalwork, and tapestries for sale to pilgrims and for their own use.

The Shrines

The faithful and pilgrims can always be seen praying or in contemplation around these four shrines during the day. A devout adherent may receive a blessing.

Shrine of Hrumok the Contemplator

This large crude statue of a Hru (Stone Giant) with its head bowed in deep thought.

Blessing - By making a DC20 Religion check, the adherent can benefit from a long rest while taking a short rest. This blessing can be used once.

Shrine of the Labors of Reverence

These three statues show the Ivashu Sudelrhynn engaging in menial tasks. The faithful are encouraged here to consider how their labors can bring them closer to the Maker (Ilvir).

Blessing - By making a DC20 Religion check, the next time they suffer exhaustion, the adherent can remove one level of this condition.

Shrine of Dannmyd’s Mirror

This stone dais supports a monolith with a niche containing a polished bronze mirror. Pilgrims gaze into the mirror, and it is said they may view their second soul. Many craftsman and artist claims to gain insight and inspiration from this experience.

Blessing - By making a DC15 Religion check, the adherent sees their second soul and gains a +5 bonus to their next artistic skill endeavor. If they make a DC20 religion Check, they have a glimpse of their next life.

Shrine of the Endless Coils

This designed metal sculpture consists of a series of pipes said to resemble one of Ilvir's favorite serpentine forms. The faithful pour water into a basin at the higher end, causing it to drain through the pipes creating a series of small fountains and strange soothing sounds.

Blessing - By making a DC20 Religion check, the adherent sees their second soul and gains a +5 temporary Hit Points for one month.

Temple Rituals

Collatythe

This dawn highly dramatic ceremony is timed with the rising sun in the windows behind the officiating priest.

A worshiper of Ilvir attending makes a DC15 Religion Check to gain Inspiration.

Collatytha

This ritual is available to priests, on the night of the new moon. It is a long ceremony filled with chanting and inhaling fragrant smoke from the temple's braziers.

A Priest Of Ilvir makes a DC15 Religion Check gains a 1 extra prepared spell, on a DC20 they gain 2, and on a DC25 they gain 3. This benefit is available until the next new moon.
