Temple of Larani - Priory of St. Bergain

The Priory is a two-story stone building used the church of Larani to store excess temple trappings, statues, documents, and books they deem to be low value. Many of the books are mundane such as village birth records and older editions of holy texts.

This building sits on a small hill overlooking the Village of Alata, and a large field filled with dairy cattle.

This temple has recently become infamous for the recent massacre of a squad of Knights and Priests by Assassin-Priests of Naveh. The future of St. Bergain's is under consideration by the Church.

Alterations

As this is not a working temple the altar has been placed in storage.

History

555TR - The Temple constructed replacing the smaller shrine dedicated to the obscure St Bergain, which served the community for over 100 years prior.

610TR - Patronage fell with the growing prominence of Order of the Spear of Shattered Sorrow and larger nearby Temples. This relegated St Bergain to a minor Abbey status, and it was considered for closure. However, Order instead decided to use it as a suitable repository for excess books and temple paraphernalia.

05 Halane 722TR - The Order of the Spear of Shattered Sorrow learned from an informant that Demons Summoners and Agrikians were planning to defile this temple. An inquisition squad was sent to investigate, but instead found skull-masked Assassins of Naveh. Only one severely injured common Soldier survived to tell the tale. Sadly the Priory's Priest, the kindly and elderly Chaplain Finlay, was also brutally murdered during the assault.

The Assassins disappeared, taking their dead as well as some old religious books and a valuable tapestry of the Legend of the Spear. It is speculated that one of the books in storage may have have been more significant than first thought. There are rumors that the bodies have been mutilated with some of the murdered heads missing.

Like most sanctified churches of Larani, St. Bergain's has the flowing divine protections.

Most Fiendish, Undead, and Elemental creatures cannot enter temple grounds.

Within the temple walls, Necrotic Damage is halved.

Within the temple walls, damage from Balefire and conjured Fire from Agrikian Sources is halved.

Worshipers of Larani cannot be Frightened with temple grounds.
