Smooth Landings

Things were bound to be rough starting off not as rich. And working alone. In a terrible neighborhood. I came here with a decent amount of cash, or so I thought. When I inquired on what housing would be like, it was far more expensive than I anticipated and that would lead to quite some problems. With only one realistic option, I chose The Korf, and needless to say, not the most pleasing place to go and live in. There was no real alternative to pick given my current cash, I needed a place to stay that would probably keep me well and alive.   Well it was sort of expected. Living off alone and not based off my past was bound to lead me to a lesser protective place, and by goodness The Korf was crazy. I’m fairly certain I could hear the screeching of animals called my neighbors every now and then as I tried to work on a hobby. On one walk, maybe a dead body. I like to think it’s just some drunk man stumbling about and decided to take a dirt nap… until I remember that phrase means death.   I needed to get out of this place. I always intended on finding a job on the first day I could. It would be no easy task to say the least but at least I could spend time exploring this area of the town a bit better, learn my options as well. I know I’m a skilled individual, so it would help me to get out of this town and into somewhere comfortable.   Moreso, I wouldn’t be a statistic to this part of town.   The next day arrived without a change of the town, and I made my way out with nothing but myself to show. I had one single plan today, and that would be to get a job. The bonus part would be exploring this town.   At least that’s what I intended.   The Korf is a strange place, everywhere seems a bit samey at times, and by samey, I mean everywhere in this place was gloomy. I would’ve asked for some form of help, but it seems as if the folks here were either not exactly the most friendly. Pretty sure a look from them could kill a very frail man. Doesn’t help that asking for help might be exposing a weakness of mine. I had to focus and make sure where ever I go, I remember how to get there.   At this point, my new option was to just make a way back home. I’ve been taking mostly the same straight path towards this general direction, so it should be quite easy to make it back home. All I had to do was go straight… then take the right after, then to the left, then to the…   Yeah no, I just made myself more lost than I intended. I’m gonna need more time with this stuff before I somehow wander into the weirdest place.   After a few hours pass of me wandering around, I return home, back to square one. This time, I went the opposite direction. If this would lead me somewhere worse, it’ll absolutely make this whole job thing much harder. So I really needed to commit, failing once was certainly a setback, and it was getting quite later in the day now.   Thankfully, whether it would be considered luck or perseverance, I was able to get out of The Korf and spend some time to searching for a job, there were quite a bunch of different folks going around this place in the Barracks, and this gave me an opportunity to job search!   The places around this area drew me near an interesting tool shop called The Hammer and Shovel! This place seemed rather perfect for me, as I used to work in these kinds of places all my life. It seemed like an interesting place. With optimism and confidence by my side, I took a breath and shuffled myself over to this building.   First my vision turned to the “NO HUMANS” sign, which thankfully didn’t apply to me. Odd choice for business but I would have to oblige by any weird or outlandish demands to get me through this time. I needed to find the owner and convince him of my skills of what I could be capable of increasing the business of the store.   Eventually I found him, his name being Bomjag, and he was quite an odd man. Seemingly looking like he’d rather drive his business to the ground, at least that’s what I got from him. Depressing really, but if I needed a place to go, this was my option. Plus it was getting a bit later than I had time for.   I saw a customer struggling to make an option, and I quickly jumped to action. I could hear the faint sound of a palm smacking a face from behind, but I ignored it. Quick to action, I did my years of experience of sales and went ahead. Everything flowed through me, even though I’ve never touched a product here, just looks alone was enough for me to convince the person.   Soon enough, he gave in, buying something and scurred away. Apparently that elf that I just convinced was a frequent visitor, but never bought anything while he was hear. That was his first purchase. Bomjag then told me that I started working the next day. A success!   With this day now finished, I march right on home, feeling much more grand than I did before. It was a nice change of pace given the rough beginning that I gave myself towards the whole ordeal. I knew how to get back to where I was supposed to work, and now I would have a job that suits me. Next part was to get enough money to live off on my own.   Time would tell, and for that, I would need to make sure I keep myself on the good side of things. Sure sounds easier than actually doing it, to be fair.
