Officially, the head of the worship of the goddesses is the standing monarch of Hyrule, and if the current monarch is one of the long line of Zeldas, she is given the title of Sage. Most major religious management is presided over by the current Sage of Light, and the other five sages (Shadow, Forest, Fire, Water, and Spirit) serve important roles as well. Religious practice town-to-town are conducted by ordained sages.

Granted Divine Powers

Not all sages have "magical" power; however, it is also not entirely unheard of. Magic, especially divine magic, is a normal part of Hylian life, and some followers of the goddesses may be blessed with certain powers. The powers of a fully awakened and realized Princess Zelda are the extreme to which these powers manifest, and sages with genuine divine magic will have limited abilities to place seals on or sometimes completely exorcise demonic energies. Some also have healing abilities and can call down divine light when needed.
