Overview from "Hylian Culture and the Calamity"

Overview
To say that the history of Hylian culture is a long one is to be extremely reductive. The Hylian people have lived on these lands for time literally immemorial, long before what we know as the Kingdom of Hyrule was even established. Whether or not you believe in legends like that of Skyloft, it is undeniable that we are an ancient people and therefore, it must be made clear that to truly understand the shape of Hylian culture throughout time in this world is nigh impossible. It is difficult to accurately trace historic events prior to the Era of Time, and that means it is even more of a lost cause to reconstruct what daily life would have been like in ancient times. It accomplishes very little to try and draw a line that runs through the entirety of the events that have made the Hylian way of life what it is today, and if such ancient history is indeed your passion, I would direct you away from sociology and anthropology and towards archeology instead.
This book is instead aimed at the specific shift in Hylian culture that took place in the century directly following the Calamity. It starts with an introduction to Pre-Calamity culture, although one should ideally be reading with knowledge of major historical events in Hyrule in the past seven hundred years, which will be referenced throughout. The subsequent sections of the book will cover life in the immediate carnage of the Calamity, relations with the other four races of Hyrule throughout the century, the perception of the past by those contemporary to the situation, and finally, what daily life was like in the final decades prior to the reclamation of Hyrule castle in 0 CH, commonly called the "Age of Recovery."
The text is annotated throughout with comprehension questions, which I encourage any teachers implementing this book to use, and one will also find guidelines and suggestions on how to create testing material using this book in the index. This material should be suitable for any students (or general seekers of knowledge) at or beyond an advanced Grade 12 reading level.
