Chickee's latent abilities
Chickee is an open book on her abilities, and nobody has tried to pull them out of her. Rhoneth has been more on a wait and see attitude because she suspects Chickee is powerful and dangerous, much like Lithai prophesied 12 years ago. Rhoneth chose Lithai, much to the mushroom's surprise, for the role of e-fae (Elinda) because of her wisdom. She guards the young hen (Chickee).
Chickee has the power of nature at her fingertips, but Rhoneth considers her more of a battle mage. That being, she won't know what to do until it happens. That makes her dangerous. It may also dredge up ancient 'magic'. She is far more powerful than any faerie on the planet, and maybe even Rhoneth herself. She will have powers over the insects, the plants, and feral animals. Her greatest power in this book is her insect swarm. She doesn't learn how to use that until the end.
SO when confronted for the first time by the Horde, she will have no experience with how to defend herself and she will flail. This will unlock her latent powers. She is unbound to the planet and therefore can control it as she wishes. That makes her dangerous and her actions erratic. She could pull down the moon for all anyone knows.
Fantasy writers overuse the powers of earth, air, fire and water. There is planet power. Chickee will learn how to make use of it. She's not truly a mage, but she can control the elements. She is a void walker, but she doesn't know that, nobody does. When she is confronted, the ancient one takes over and guides her actions. Subconsciously at first, but more of a presence in Chickee's mind as she grows in power. In essence, the hen teaches herself.
Chickee has access to time-space magic but needs to learn how to find and use it. She will send Sulleh's minions back to their shard during the final confrontation between the T'iacha (with the fools) and Chickee and her fae minions.
In the first book, Chickee learns how to use the insect swarm on the T'iacha underlings working for Mr. Storm. They will run in fear and go back where they belong. She defeasts Granza and his group of troublemakers. They work for Mr. Swarm in the Naeswole.
