The History of the Auru and Aie Peoples
The auru are the yang to the yin of the Aie peoples. At one time in the Time of Gael, both peoples were singular beings of immense powers. In the days of Gael, they resided along the Axis of Helix in the true neutral realms where Aiwei Janus-Face ruled these ardent followers.
After the breaking, the Aie and Auru split into separate beings. Those who remember the time of the breaking feel they lost part of themselves when Gael fell. There were some who remained whole. Many of them powerful Lords of their people. Aiwei gifted them the title of Qu'ella-Grae, the anointed ones. Immortal and near god-like in the new reality.
Some could not stand the changes and went into the 'long sleep'.' Some were reborn, most remained as part of the framework of the multiverse. It is rumored Thyia would return, but until now she remained asleep.
There were others who remained devoted to Aiwei, namely Rhoneth Bellevant among others who are his most trusted advocates and agents. These agents work with both the Aie and the Auru. There is no evil or good, the balance is key. For every life, there has to be equal death. For every beauty there has to be equal repulsion and for every kindness there must be equal torment and misery. Aiwei is a complex celestial being, not easily understood by anyone. He is the treesinger and the stormbringer. He is not the creator, he was created in the primordial soup of Gael.
The auru peoples are considered ugly by most who set eyes on them. They relish cruelty and power over those they deem lesser than them. They live in dark places and bring balance to the Aie people's tending to the planet and its constant rebirth. They are the bringer's of death and left unchecked ruin worlds until balance is restored. The strongest of both sides prosper.
On the planet of Mohn, the Aie stood on the top of the heap and dominated the world since they stole it from the Auru some 1,500 years previous and before that the Auru ruled for thousands of years with the help of the greedy surface dwellers, the goldfish who don't understand the part they play.
Aiwie says,
life can never allowed to go soft. There must been a pushing force to improve to evolve and grow.He is said to have split the original beings into light and dark, Aie and Auru as a test of wills. He knows the Aie have a harder road, because of entropy and peoples will to be comfortable, not better. The Auru are completely corrupted and rotting, some literally. The Aie are beautiful and shine with an inner light. The Aie- and Auru form a symbiotic circle
