Arcanotech

Arcanotech is a broad term that is used in order to describe technology that is powered by Aether. While both magically enchanted items and Arcanotech both use Aether as a fuel source, Arcanotech has a few key differences:

  1. The object itself doesn't store Aether; it has a catalyst battery, typically a crystal, which can be removed making the technology functionally useless without it. A traditional magic item is designed specifically to store Aether within the object itself as the catalyst.
  2. The Aether is used to trigger a secondary effect that results in the primary purpose of the technology itself. An example is like all guns within the world of Moirai. The gun itself isnt shooting the bullets. The crystal storing Aether shoots air, which fires the bullet. The shooting is the primary purpose, the creation of air is the secondary. Thus it is counted as Arcanotech.
  3. Arcanotech has be recharged by Aether through the catalyst battery. Traditional Magical items might also need to be recharged, but Arcanotech specifically ALWAYS have to recharged at some point. They cannot perminately hold arcane effects like traditional magical items can.
  4. Arcanotech is, from an arcane standpoint, easier to make than traditional magic items. It requires a greater engineering understanding to function instead.
An important thing to note is that while Arcanotech are magic items, not all magic items are Arcanotech. This means they are impacted by things like Dispell Magic and Anti-Magic fields.
