Twilight Grove

The Twilight Grove is a religion based on the cycles of nature and the cycles of light and darkness. This is based on an understanding of 14- Temperance and was a former druid grove that expanded its understanding into a religion. They believe that there is a balance in all things, between man and nature, good and evil, light and darkness, and this balance must be maintained in order for life to continue.   Domains: Nature, Twilight

Structure

At the head of the religion is the High Arbiter, a pilgrim druid who travels around the world of Moirai to each of the churches in the religion and asks as a spiritual guide and mediator for the faith. Below them are Guides of Twilight, who are the heads of the local chapters of churches, who have the same authority as the High Arbiter when they are not around. Below them are the Grove Keepers, who are part of a group of 5 chosen by the Guides who act as a council of opinion on matters of the faith.

Culture

The Twilight Grove are seen with mixed feeling by the general public. While they are certainly kinds to those who need help, they have been known to hinder flourishing settlements in the name of balance. When a location is truly struggling, they are seem as a true and welcome sight. As such it is not uncommon for locations of the church to have to move if the settlements they are in begin to expand beyond their means, being kicked out by the settlement who feel they are no longer helping.

Mythology & Lore

The Grove believe in both the positive and negative aspects of 14- Temperance as one being, understanding that balance is required for life to continue as it exists. They believe that the world, its people, and nature should be held in an equal balance of both good and evil. If one becomes too great, even great good can lead to terrible evils. So as to avoid the extreme of one or the other, they maintain this balance.

Tenets of Faith

  • In nature’s cycles, birth and decay are equally necessary. Killing without need is considered sacrilege, but so is denying the natural cycle of life and death.
  • Approach the unseen with humility and seek guidance with an open heart, embracing mystery rather than fearing it.
  • Even great good can lead to terrible evils. Do all you can to preserve the balance, even if harm must come as a result.
