Major Trade Hub - Tinkerdale

Tinkerdale is a gnomish trade town built into a sheltered bay on the Continent of Ventris. The bay reportedly did not exist prior to the arrival of the gnomes, and the few Hobgoblins and Minotaur who witnessed their landing and subsequent claiming of the sparsely habited coastline claim of metal monsters possessing of giant arms lined with great teeth, powered by arcane means tearing up the earth.   Tinkerdale survives independently from external trade for the most part, but it has been made rich over the years from three different sources of income from the outside world - people hiring guides and funding expeditions to the nearby Lake of a Thousand wishes, hoping they can placate the great beast that lives there and gain a boon, those looking for gnomish designed contraptions and gadgets, and a source of shardstone, a unique material found only in the great mountain Mechastone nearby. This rare stone is capable of holding a strong magical charge, and rumour has it the MageKing has recently turned their eye to this far off continent in interest.   Tinkerdale trades in turn for dwarven forged components (although in recent years, due to rumours of gnomish disappearances, they only do so via an intermediary established in Spirefort, in Mar-Genyon), and mercenary aid to assist in the war with the nearby goblins and hobgoblins of Groshk and their surrounding villages.   Even during times of war, the gnomes can be found trading with their goblinoid enemies, for woods and wild plants that do not grow on the open plains surrounding Tinkerdale.

Most locals of Tinkerdale earn a living buy being involved in some way with the gnomish desire to manipulate the world around them. From new devices to outlandish fashions, the gnomes perpetually innovate repeatedly; most of these result in some form of explosion or ridiculous cultural expressions.
