Primary Deputy

The primary deputy(p.d.) is the second highest rank in the Ancient Clans.
Their responsibilities include:

• giving advice to the leader when asked to do so
• working on new strategies to secure borders, how/when to hunt etc.
• stay in contact with the other clans (a sort of ambassador)
• taking the leader's role in critical situations, such as them being sick or otherwise unable to lead the clan properly
• help the medicine cat out
• along with the leader and s.d.; evaluating the students at their final examination
• along with the leader; elect a secondary deputy

When a primary deputy dies, the secondary deputy usually becomes the new p.d., though exeptions can be made by the leader or s.d.(if they reject, for example). In this situation, the leader alone may elect a new p.d.
The p.d. may retire from their position under certain circumstances(age/illness/etc.), however they may not step down and go back to being an s.d. or warrior.
The p.d. usually becomes the new leader after their death. Then, they immediately have to elect a new s.d. with help from the former s.d.(now p.d.). Exeptions can be made if the primary deputy rejects, in which case the secondary deputy will become the leader, and the primary deputy stays in their position.
