House Teken'duis
House Teken'duis is a drow elf house that thrives in the darkness beneath the Gallymoore Mountains on the Isle of Baeddon. Nestled in the deep and ancient caverns, this house holds sway over a network of underground cities and tunnels that stretch like a web through the underbelly of the mountains.
The house is known for its mastery over shadow magic and is reputed for its secrecy, rivaled only by its saunch efficiency. The matron mother, known as Matron Xilraya Teken'duis, is a figure of reverence through fear and power, rumored to have powers granted directly from Lloth herself.
House Teken'duis maintains alliances with shadowy fiends and giant subterranean spiders, which they often use as guards and mounts. They are also known to command the loyalty of certain Duergar clans, having secured their allegiance through promises of protection and the occasional show of force. The House also had a long-standing treaty with the dwarven Clan Aldevorgrik before its decimation by the White Dragon that Breathes Fire. However, the lone survivor of the clan, Bolvaic, still addended their annual meeting to state their business.
The drow of House Teken'duis are skilled craftsmen, producing weapons, armor, and tools imbued with dark enchantments. They are also adept at exploiting the unique resources of their environment, trading rare underdark minerals and poisons with surface-dwelling merchants who are brave—or foolish—enough to make the journey to their hidden markets. House Teken'duis’s influence extends subtly above ground, where they engage in covert trade and diplomacy with the surface, manipulating events to ensure the Gallymoore Mountains remain a place of dread and danger.
The drow here follow a strict hierarchy, with a rigid code of conduct that balances loyalty to the house with an ever-present undercurrent of ambition and betrayal. To survive in House Teken'duis is to embrace the shadows, not merely as a refuge but as a tool and a weapon. It is said that the house's greatest strength lies in its ability to conceal its true intentions until the moment they strike, like a spider waiting patiently in its web.
