Lloth

The Spider Queen

The evil goddess of deceit, shadows, and spiders, Lolth weaves a complicated web of schemes and treachery through her worshipers, deceiving allies and enemies alike to gain power. Her lies convinced some of the first elves to leave the surface and travel below the ground, becoming the drow. It is said that Lolth can see through the eyes of all spiders, and that she is truly all-knowing. She harbors a seething rivalry against Aine, who kept the remaining elves from following her underground. She is a vain god and it is believed that much of her vanity comes from the belief in her own lies about herself and her power. She despises Emone, who claims to know the truth, but any lie told well enough can become its own truth.

Lolth’s most common depictions are of a beautiful drow woman with flowing silver white hair, whose abdomen swells into the body of a monstrous spider.
