The Gods and The Beginning

The first two were the Heavenly Wellspring: Mother Sun and the Father Moon.
Through the Mother Sun came warmth, light, the sky, weather, and life.
Through the Father Moon came cold, darkness, the stars, land, and death.
The two danced, in love with one another, complimenting their power, for one could not exist without the other.
Through their dance came their two children: The Dusk Mage and The Dawn Warrior, known as the Twilight Offspring.
The Dusk Mage brought the power of Magic and with it knowledge, study, prophecy, protection, and secrets.
The Dawn Warrior brought the power of the Soul and with it strength, sport, will, and invention, and truth.
Together, the four gods became known as the Quartet Divine, and created the Verous Islands in which all of their people live.

The forests to the East were made for the Elves, to live at peace with nature. This land was called Aurum

The mountains to the West were made for the Dwarves, so they could grow and craft as they pleased. This land was called Argent

The plains in the North for the Halflings, so they could live in the moment with community. This land was called Feros

The wastelands in the South were made for the Orcs, so they could channel and grow their strength. This land was called Curprum

Between these places they created the Humans, to act as the liaison for all these diverse beings.

Afterward the Quartet Divine created beasts, plants, and minerals to nourish their creation and help them find ways to live life on their own terms.
Finally the Quartet Divine gave them The Tapestry of Verous, so they could share their history for years and years to come.

Historical Basis

This history is mostly myth that had been taught in song and history for varying accounts. In 68 F.E. This history was confirmed by the High Priestess Irina Jayshra Ferox when she communed with The Mother Sun. It was her goal to learn of the unified story all people of Verous share, and with it confirmed the legitimacy of many varying stories to have some level of truth.

This is common knowledged among the populace. it's often considered a bedtime story for parents to tell their children.

Cultural Reception

This story is integral to Feroxian Identity as it confirmed the people of Verous had a unified history. This went a long way in helping unite the various cultures of Ferox.

In Literature

Each of the Four Gospels, or Wisdoms, have this story as the preface. This serves to remind the many denominations that though they have separate values, they are still unified by a greater purpose for even the gods themselves work together.

In Art

Art often depicts this event with the four gods each holding hands in a circle around the Islands of Verous. Surrounding the gods are the various creations they've brought. At the center of the islands is a folded tapestry depicting the original holy scripture.
