Myth of First Demons
“Ever wonder where demons come from? According to legend we made them ourselves. How’s that for irony?”
Summary
This myth refers to the creation of the Unholy Six, also known as the Six Demon Lords, or the Demonic Cabal. In the story the Chosen, who were tasked with defending and leading mortals grew weary of mortal folly.
In their desperation, many of the chosen cried out, asking the mortals what would sate their need to violence. The people declared they should have power enough to destroy their enemies. Looking into the evil in their hearts, the Chosen gave them power to match the darkness within. It was their hope this would show them the folly of their ways, and many did learn. But some drank deep of the evil and found ways to make themselves more powerful.
Eventually six people found a way to bolster their power. They drew deep on the darkness in nature, or the soul, or of the self, and became the first Demon Lords. Rather than attempt to slay these beasts, many acquiesced to these beings and became the first fiends. Twisted into manifestations of the sin in their hearts, the first demons were made.
These beings ravaged the land, seemingly invincible to the fledgling mortals. However, as they were no longer mortals, the Chosen were able to harm them and slew them Em masse. The demonic legions were beaten back, but the original six could not be killed.
Instead they were sealed away, so they could never enter the material realm again.

Historical Basis
There is no real historical account of when this occurred. The closest thing is from the tapestry and that it’s talked about in passing in the Four Wisdoms.

Spread
Most tellings of the event are discussed in all Four of the Champion’s Wisdoms. Due to the apocryphal nature of the story, the four have wildly different discussions of the event.
Variations & Mutation
One major variation is that the six demon lords that come from this event are actually Chosen people that fell. This is considered apocryphal by the Zygallic Church in recent years and some more ardent followers would consider it heresy.
