Sunken Castle

Built in the year 298 during the Ages of Chaos by the D'Antre family, Bear Castle sits on land that was purchased from Midbourne, who they frequently employed for labor, and bought goods from. The construction started before and finished prior to the Green Wars, with most of the warriors participating in the atrocities that were being committed against the orcs and tieflings when the wars broke out. Bear Castle became the ancestral seat for the D'Antre family, which ruled there for seven generations. Lord Robane D'Antre was the last heir to Bear Castle, the rest of the bloodline dead from the wars and raiding against the orc bands and tieflings, or considered too 'impure' as they were of partial orcish, or tiefling descent. His wife, Lady Ysabo, took the reins of Bear Castle with the aid of their loyal steward Tristian.

After dreaming of a melody, the lady of Bear Castle became obsessed with finding a way to hear it again. Her efforts were aided by a trapper who came to the castle, telling her of an organ she had seen that might be what she was looking for. The lady found the instrument and had it brought to the castle, learning from bards how to play the imposing creation. She had her steward scribe the music, and went against his warnings to play upon the organ, which resulted in their deaths and the sinking of Bear Castle in 68 Aeon of Penance.
In 267 PE, Swift, Rhogar, and Kaya stumbled upon the sunken castle in their efforts to rid the area of wolves at the High Scrivener Dow's behest. They found illusions that played the history of the late Lady and steward of Bear Castle, music notes, and gold as well as an organ that seemed to play of it's own volition. Upon defeating the fey spirit in the organ, it vanished, and they witnessed the sinking of Bear Castle and the deaths of Lady Ysabo and Tristian, and the resulting fey creature that took on the now late lady's form. The castle then rose again in ruins, crumbling from the sinking, rising, and years below the ground.

Further Plans

Upon being informed of this castle being returned to the surface by Swift, Rhogar, and Kaya, High Scrivener Dow plans to decommission the unsafe ruins and use the scavenged stone to create a grain store for if the region should fall onto hard times. His goal is to allow other kingdoms to store excess grains within to access as needed at no cost, though a fee may be levied if there was no grain put in, or if they took more than they gave.
