Gromril

Gromril, the metal of kings! It is the greatest metal available in all of Morgrave. Instantly recognizable by its blue and pearl coloration and its naturally "wavy and flowing" pattern, Gromril sought after both for its beauty and its toughness. True patrons of the arts with altogether too much money commission arts made of the lustrous metal, while great champions and warlords commission legendary weapons and armor from it. However, gromril only comes from two places in the world: The Viscera, a section of the greater Krut-y-Bann jungle in Krag-a-Krach, and an unknown source somewhere up in the Wuthering Wights.   The source of the gromril in the Wuthering Wights is a closely guarded secret of the Elves who live there. Although they freely (and with great relish) show off their beautiful gromril weapons and armor to visitors, they never carry anything made of gromril with them when they raid their southern neighbors, lest any fall into the Hymbrans hands and be used against them. Since there are scarcely any trees up there, the rest of the world reckons that the Elves must have access to a mine; a great many explorers and prospectors have lost their lives looking for the same or similar deposits in that frozen wasteland.   The Viscera is characterized by its blood red foliage - a sign of the raw gromril that runs through its veins. The Krachi have been harvesting this gromril for hundreds of years, and have developed quite a system for harvesting it. It's called "pulping" by the locals, and it involves crushing up the plants great vats to extract the tiny gromril particles that they absorb through the ground. The process is slow, but since it's the only accessible source of gromril for most of Morgrave, it's worth it - they can ask any price that they want. The Viscera is dotted with settlements of people who harvest plants, pulp them, and then replant them to start the process over again.
