Toti People

The Toti people are not so much oppressed for who they are, but rather for where they live. This group is native to the Ito Archipelago, which is practically in the exact center of Morova. Since the dawn of sea travel, these folks have been frequented by visitors from other lands. This was fine, until the age of colonization picked up in the late Fourth Cycle. Then, it was a race by the big three powers (Lauredia, Fharyn, and Toren-Osea) to see who could pick up the most land the quickest. Being at the meeting point of these powers, the Ito Archipelago was considered a very fine prize, and therefore was often fought over to the point where it sometimes changed hands several times in a single week.

As a result of this constant conflict, the Toti people have found themselves the target of many hardships. Their lands have been drained of many vital resources such as wood and wheat, and any land that is still useful has been seized by colonizers. Many Toti people now feel like unwelcome visitors in their own towns and cities due to the heavy infrastructure changes that were recently imposed. Unfortunately, to the powers that control the colonial machines, the Toti often appear more as inconvenient obstacles than as people with a valid claim to their ancestral lands.

Appearance

Folks with Toti blood can look a lot like anyone else in Morova- meaning that their skin ranges from deep brown to pale tan, though a darker beige is more common in this part of the world. Their hair is typically finely textured and lighter than their skin, and they do not often grow beards. The most defining feature of the Toti is their noses, as they are almost always large and stick out prominently from their faces. In fact, the nose is pretty much a surefire way to determine if a person has any Toti heritage, as it is a dominant trait that will always appear if a person has Toti blood.

Fharyne word: Pasryma, lit "hole people", possibly referring to their prominent nostrils.
