Black Kelpie

A marine algae colonies that appears like black kelp. It is a predatory plant-like algae that seems to only target mid size to large prey. Once it entangles a target then it enters in any orifice to drown them. This allows it to drown even those with the underbreath gift. Then the leaves surround the corpse and slowly digest the prey. It is species that is feared and avoided by bigger animals, but can be a safe haven for small marine life.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They appear as tall group of black kelp. They are usually attached to the sea floor and have shiny  gold spots near its base.  These work to flash and attract  targets

Genetics and Reproduction

What is seen as Black kelpie is actually a colony of algae that worked toget and can normal replicate themselves. A nw  Black kelpie stalk grows is a "leaf" is broken off the main black Kelpies and in anchors into the ground

Dietary Needs and Habits

Black Kelpie is capable to producing some nutrient using sunlight. However they are not as effective as actual plants and supplement their diet with prey.  They only seem to attack  mid-size to large  targets do to the energy used to digest a target. Thus small animal commonly live among the  Black kelpie. 
As stated the black kelpie will entangle the target then enter  all orifices to drown the prey.  Then the Black Kelpie will surround the pray and slowly digest over a couple days.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Most human seek to destroy Black Kelpie, due to the danger they can be to humans. They also can tangle fishing nets and boat machinery. Some human will collect Black Kelpie  to form a glue like substance for its paste.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Black Kelpie can grow in  any of the ocean shores. However they do grow better in warmer areas, or regions with high biodiversity. One sub species of black Kelpie is cable of growing in fresh water. The colonies are smaller size and tend to be more bush like. This black Kelpie does prey on small animal and  are better at converting suns energy. It can be found in Lake Slyfall

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Black Kelpie is not capanle of manipulation magi. However  it does seem to be able to sense a preys size based on touch. Also he Blackk Kelpie stlk fibers are  very strong, sticky and flexible, making it the perfect for entangle large prey

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

For marine Black Kelpie, many small animals live among the Black kelpie as a form of protection. This also aid the Black Kelpie by attracting larger prey.
