A human noble family who have extensive lands in the coastlands of Middlemarch, the Rolances are the primary opponents of the Dawnstar family. The Roylance family have sat on the throne a number of times in the nation’s 450 year history, often at times of national turmoil. A family happier in the saddle than in the courtroom, the Roylance family are traditionalists who are deeply suspicious of Elvish influence within the kingdom, who believe that the kingdom will never be truly safe until all Elves are banished over the sea. The head of their house is Lord Nigel Roylance, who is Grandmaster of the Order of the Aegis.
