Krin
Krin were developed artificially as a currency with which to do business with the rest of the galaxy shortly after The Stenza had begun space travel and imperial expansion, primarily as a means of making tax and tribute collection much easier. Before this point Stenza did not use money, instead bartering with each other for things that they needed or wanted, and very rarely did anyone think to import anything from other parts of the galaxy. While Stenza are still uncomfortable with the idea of currency even today, many if not most will admit to its utility, and slowly the population has begun using it earnestly amongst themselves.
Krin were originally represented by bronze pieces the value of which was calculated through comparing its weight to an average Basket Horns and then assessing the beast itself in a foreign market. As the Nine Systems expanded, the value of the krin increased, and so did the number of civilizations using it and thus calculating its value compared to their own currencies, often through the same method the Stenza themselves used. Several of the conversions are as follows:
*Note: The Trynty is a Muxteran currency that is no longer in use.
Often, krin are not the tax or tribute themselves, but rather a means by which the Stenza express the value of things they want (often ships, weapons, robots, or related items). So, while krin can be feasibly used by other species (and has happened in the case of Ilin's Rally of the Twelve Galaxies), they also have a lot of symbolic meaning, much of it incredibly negative. One of the symbols which denote Desolation on maps of the Stenza state is the symbol for a krin (the Stenza letter khendak). The symbol is also a shorthand among non-Stenza for "bringers of death".

Significance
Krin, being the base currency used throughout the empire, have come to represent Stenza dominance over the territories they control (the exception being "designated hunting ground" Earth). As such many other peoples associate the concept of krin with the atrocities the Stenza have committed across time, and continue to commit in the present day. A common act of rebellion is to use the native currencies of the planet for doing business amongst themselves, although all units will be destroyed if anyone is caught doing this "off world".
