Rime
Manifestation
Rime is a form of ice that occurs when supercooled water droplets make contact with a surface. This especially occurs in humid areas and during bouts of freezing fog. Rime is most commonly encountered during Migration season at the fuzzy boundary between the Sandibari forests and the harsh northern tundras, and tends to cling voraciously to surfaces it freezes to. Before it is disturbed, it almost looks like a coating of snow.
And Stenza love to disturb it.
There are two different schools of thought on rime sculpture. The first, using blades to gently remove bits of the rime off of existing objects in order to create the piece. The second, to form a "base" object (such as by manipulating water with bare skin) in order for the rime to cling to. Either creates an abstract and impermanent work of art sure to go when the next storm hits. Impermanence is part of the charm of rime sculpture.
This is a weirdly cute article. I love the idea of Stenza making rime sculptures! :D
