Magi's Wall Formation

There was nothing the dwarves could do. The magi moved with shocking speed at the unprepared collection of dwarven weaponry and troops. They ran in terror as the magi unleashed powerful balls of pure death magic that ripped through and destroyed all life. The dwarves fought back but their defence was meagre. It only slowed their death. There was nothing they could do.

Composition

Manpower

A magi's wall formation contains 210 magi with twenty at the front and twenty rows each consisting of one fewer magi than the one in front. It is usually shortened to only 10 rows with 155 magi as the last rows that contain fewer than eleven magi aren't needed.

Equipment

The first two rows are the most powerful magi and therefore carry nothing though the next six rows carry staffs and the last twelve rows carry wands as these are the least powerful implement.

Weaponry

Magi use magic, specifically light magic to harmlessly incapacitate troops though most conflicts result in the use of dark or death magic. This is such an effective weapon it is banned under The Declaration Of Magical Restriction though it states it can be used in exceptional circumstances.

Structure

It is lead by the chief warlock or highest ranking grandmaster who is positioned in the middle of the first few alongside the high elf or second highest ranking grandmaster. The first row or squad contains the magi with the highest skill level and the last row is the least skilled.

Tactics

It is mostly used in ambushes as magi can travel quickly and do not need vehicles or much if any equipment. It is used to make quick attacks and surprise the enemy. The magi usually assemble quickly, ready to destroy their opponent.

Training

A mage must have achieved the level of master although most of the mage division in the Koboldian army, is made up of grandmasters. A mage must then undergo 7 months of training (half a year).

Logistics

Logistical Support

Most mage’s walls are supported by a platoon of archers and at least two squads of knights on hexequines. This is for support with close quarters combat as the magi struggle with this.

Recruitment

The magi that are eligible must be elven master magi. Most magi are male however, women are allowed. A magi receives a card similar to an ID card that states their military rank and position as well as their name, age and magical rank.
