Sundering of Mundus
The Sundering of Mundus (or The Sundering for short) was a cataclysmic event which transpired in the time before written history. Its effects irrevocably changed the world, as the world-continent of Mundus was split into the continents of Mundus Major and Mundus Minor, giving birth to The Abyssal Divide.
Accounts of the event have survived through oral tradition, and today there are several myths which seek to explain the Sundering. The most popular of these involves a struggle between the deities Bruada and Guthnoc.
What's certain is that some thousands of years ago, before humans ever set foot on Mundus, the world trembled and quaked as some massive power tore the continent into two. Cities within hundreds of miles of the Divide were reduced to rubble by the ensuing earthquake, and torrential waves rushed to fill the void left by the receding landmass. This deluge rushed to flood the low plains which to this day are submerged under the waves of what is now known as The Hungering Sea.
The gods beside us, before their fall. These times of old, before the first rune or sigil
The world was one, and Guthnoc stood vigil. A god steadfast and strong, iron was his will
The people in Steel-Heart's realm suffered no ill. But the Mother of Beasts, bloody and proud
Sure of her strength, her challenge issued aloud. "Strong is thine stance, lord of shield and crown
But mine strength is greater, thee I could tear down. What say you to a mettle, a great divine brawl
To see who is stronger, prove it once and for all?" Guthnoc grew weary, wished to put the matter to rest
The Steel-Heart planted his feet, and agreed to her test. And so they wrestled, a beast unstoppable in might
Against the Lord of Steel, the unwavering knight. Yet Bruada the Bloody, strong and filled with rage
Could not the Steel-Heart budge, put an end to his age. For many seasons they fought, neither wished to be beat
The mountains crumbled, turned to dust beneath their feet. Then echoed a terrible roar, deafening like thunder
Neither had shifted, but the world came asunder. Mundus groaned and shook, as a beast beset by pain
Waves crashed and filled the wound, of the land cut in twain. Where cities once stood, where legends roamed and died
Lay forgotten ruins now, bones buried by earth and tide. Whose strength was greater, this none can say
But their contest split Mundus, divorced to this day.

Great work on the poem. I can see the divide on the map
