Zarrisshar

The city of Zarrisshar is the heart of the vast Setzá Empire of Ras. It is a city of repurposed giant ruins, great earthworks and sprawling fields of setzá tent villages.
Geography
The city is built on the shores of the hypersaline Lake of Tears, known as Ki'tuzush in the tongue of the setzá. They consider the lake sacred, and though unsuitable for drinking, its waters are home to very specialised fauna which the lizard folk have learned to rely on. Three distinct districts make up the city:
  • The Palace district. The ruins of a building complex built by ancient giants make up the footprint of this district, with later additions of stonework and wooden ramparts by its new residents. The palace of Emperor Ras is found here, as is the great arena where fighters are pitted against each other or against purpose-bred packs of razorbeak.
  • Forest district. Wedged between two rivers is a large patch of woodland, which has been transformed into a sprawling multi-leveled residential and commercial district. The giant trees grow sparse enough that sunlight makes it through them, but the hundreds of wooden platforms and canvas roofs leave the district's interior dark as dusk regardless of the time of day.
  • The Waterfront. Moldy shacks and ramshackle wooden platforms sit atop the lake's briny waters, and setzá fishing boats flit around like water striders. A very filthy and dangerous place to find oneself in.
  • Demographics
The vast majority of Zarrisshar's residents are setzá, but many mercenaries also treat is as their base of operations. The warlike setzá always have work for able warriors.
