The Dicestruck City

A city in the state of Cloudstyf located in The United States of Ozmania. The main drive of the city is, of course, its many casinos and entertainment industry including large theme parks based on iconic comic book characters. Casinova City is also known for its food: deep dish pizza that is popular among both elves and humans. Notoriously known for high levels of criminality, its no wonder it is the [Protagonist Gang's] hometown. Nicknamed 'The Dicestruck City', Casinova City used to be rife with pubs and bars that were forced to change operations thanks to the Feithart Prohibition being imposed by the Ozmanian government and the Union of Nations at large.
Because of this enforced prohibition many of the city's inhabitants may well be considered criminals in their own right. Not very many in Casinova are fond of the Feithart Resolution, much less the prohibition and its reasons for denying their lives of sweet vices. As if by some sort of miracle or, perhaps with the purpose of giving something for the  the prohibition did not mention anything regarding gambling and much to the relief of the citizens of Cloudstyf, the vice of gambling is not illegal in their state. Many are addicts to the dice here, and some say the spirit of Z'moyeh the Gambler rests in the grounds of the birth of this city.

Demographics

Much like the rest of The United States of the Ozmanian Republic, Casinova City's inhabitants vary greatly in species, ethnicity, profession and wealth class. From the slums on the southern border of the city to the mansions that dot the hills of the northern border along Celestia Lake's shores, Casinova City is rife with all kinds of walks of life.
Humans and elves are most populous in Casinova.

Government

As a city in the State of Cloudstyf, state law is mostly what applies to Casinova City and it is largely ruled by provincial and federal government bodies. But like all cities in the Ozmanian Republic, it has its own autonomous government-provided services. The Mayor of Casinova City, [name], is a proud Ozmanian-born human that was voted into place as a [conservative party] representative but secretly supports speak-easies and other illicit networks of controlled substances and goods.

Defences

While walls on the settlement have long been outgrown, the main borough of Holbuster does have several main walls and towers that overlook the city and nearby areas. The other buroughs don't have walls but have hunter stations and local police stations at curcial points across the city that provide appropriate coverage for their boroughs.
Outside of the local defences there is also a military base for the Ozmanian Army located in Vanett.

Industry & Trade

Casinova's largest industry is its locales that focus on entertaining the masses. The casinos that are lined across most avenues of the city are frequented by high rollers and many Gamblers of high prestige. Among the most famous gambling venues of Casinova City are the Hall Casinova, [Protagonist Gang's Casino], The Reyrook Casino and Inn, and The Golden Bettinghouse. Most casinos are known to have some form of black market dealings and with the current prohibition in place, and there is no end to the amount of underground speakeasies that can be found in the Dicestruck City; local police force will officially state they are unaware of any situations.  [The Protagonist Gang], a rising gang in the scene of contemporary Casinova run many such speakeasies and, of course, their main attraction [Protagonist Gang's Casino].

Infrastructure

There are thousands of buildings in Casinova City, so its hard to account for all sorts of structures and venues that the city holds. Overall since the city is based along the southern coast of Lake Celestia the city is constructed around the docks where most of the trade happens. Still, Casinova is infamous for its entertainment industry, so the city is known for quite a few theaters, casinos, theme parks and museums.

Districts

Casinova City is divided into five main buroughs: Anarkuz, Frostfog, Holbuster, Royfield and Vanett.
Anarkuz is located on the north-east side of the city and around the second largest port. It is named after the Kemfehk name for the floating stones on the south of Lake Celestia.

Holbuster, the largest borough, is located on the north-west side of the city and was the original town that was built before the rest of Casinova City was built.

The ruling organizations in Casinova City are the Casinova Department of Public Affairs as well as the Cloudstyf State Government. The Casinova City Police Department enforces state laws as well as city ordinances. Meantime, protecting the city from monsters and fey is the Casinova City Hunter's Guild.

History

Initially the area where Casinova City was built was a meadow found between Casin-Ova Feymarch and the Palisin Feymarch, devoid of even Kemfek settlements. During the years where the Ozmanian Colonies were being settled the wide bodies of water that connected the northern-most colonies, including Lake Celestia and Lake Bisfimmi, were commonly used to bring supplies upriver to the earlier inland settlements. This area was a prime position to place a river port to collect and drop off supplies for the growing nation.

Geography

Casinova City is based in the Casin-Ova plains south of Lake Celestia

Climate

For most of the year most of the State of Cloudstyf is snow-ridden and foggy. Casinova is no different and a prime example of the type of climate found in the rest of the state. During summer there are less fogs and snow, with more rain and clear skies taking over.
