Session XV: The Mansion Report

General Summary

Returning to the Mansion

A drunken overwhelming combat

The adventurers return to Gnel's Mansion around 11 pm and decide to open fire on the band of goblins from a distance, upon which Roger organizes his forces to retaliate. In total a force of 12 goblins, 2 bugbears and 3 hobgoblins is amassed. A great battle ensues, with Oswald Fleetfeet lighting the empty beer barrel on fire, Balin Thornbow beheading many a goblin. Their combined might ensures Nalan to call on his god Innos for healing aid to both Oswald Fleetfeet and Tristan Zabaleta. In the end, the adventurers defeat most of the goblins with Nalan scaring two goblins and a bugbear into submission. One goblin and hobgoblin manage to escape the battlefield by running through the mansion. The adventurers decide to start looting, upon which they encounter a diamond worth 100 gp on Roger's body.

A loud scream

Approximately five minutes after the fight they hear a loud scream coming from the mansion, combined with a red ominous lighting. The goblins immediately respond by fleeing the battlefield, with Balin and Nalan's combined effort halting them. They explain Gnel used to experiment on goblins with Lyrium exposure and the lights likely indicated their release. After some discussion the exhausted adventurers decide to investigate as unleashing such a menace on the city may prove unfruitful. Oswald casts Invisibility on himself and Balin stealthily following him on foot. Upon entering the main hall they encounter an opened hatch with two red-glowing goblin-like creatures with huge red crystal spikes protruding from them. Next to the hatch they see a hobgoblin holding a key, while being heavily pierced by one of these so-called Lyrium husks. Oswalds decides to undertake action and closes the hatch, revealing himself to the lyrium husk. Oswald, Balin and Nalan battle the husks but not before Nalan is restrained by a bugbear lyrium husk and pierced by one of its crystalline arms. They manage to destroy the lyrium husks and gather about 10 g of lyrium shards from their remains.
