Mundus in the modern day is a world similar to today’s Earth. The geography and climate of the world is a parallel universe to our own. Mundus is actively affected by the Weave, the force of magic that sustains supernatural forces and allows the evolution of a wide variety of humanoid species.   In a world so closely connected to the realm of magic, civilization and nature inevitably grows differently from our world. Magical creatures, demons, gods, and dragons are all real. In the vast, uncharted wildlands live dangerous creatures and mysterious hidden kingdoms.
New Mundus
Unlike the Old World, where there are many kingdoms and empires with the history and culture of a specific race, the rapid colonization of New Mundus means all the major kingdoms bear the characteristics of at least two cultures and have some racial diversity, though it can vary.     Your games will take place specifically in The Imperial City, capital of the Acelan Empire which corresponds to the Southeast United States. The core of the city, frequented by royals, traders, bureaucrats, and diplomats, is well-appointed and planned. Grand Neo-Classical houses of government and military power line the streets at the heart of the city. This is the shiny and clean face of the Empire, dotted by monuments to High Emperor Ferrence Acelius, and his father who founded the old Kingdom. There is no more secure city in New Mundus, with a strong military presence and an academy of divination wizards who work around the clock to anticipate threats to the seat of the Empire.     All citizens of Acela are expected to follow the ideology of the Emperor. The victory goddess Nike, to whom Emperor Ferrence is said to communicate, is the central figure of religious worship.     Treason is defined broadly and punished harshly. Elves and humans are considered the ‘founder’ races, especially desired in The Imperial City, though many races do live here. Since the war almost 70 years ago, the Empire has sown distrust of halflings and the native Aarakocra. The economic divide between rich and poor is vast and growing. The use of magic is controlled, with destructive evocation magic only allowed to be practised by the Imperial War Mages.
