Fairfax Farms
Fairfax Farms is operated by Hubert Kandee out on the far east side of town, where he grows mostly wheat, rye, corn, buckwheat and clover. It's a small family operation run by Kandee after he purchased it from Phillip Fairfax a decade ago. Fairfax, a drunk, had prospered years ago but slowly ran Fairfax Farms into the ground. Some say it was the drink that did in the farm; others say the farm drove the man to drink.
In what seems to be history repeating itself, the farm seemed to spring to life under new ownership and flourished for some time and Kandee was pulling in money hand over fist, employing over a dozen workers--the joke was he needed half of them to carry deposits to the bank. But then there was a violent accident with some machinery that tore a man limb from limb. Being so far out, it took way too long for the doctor to arrive. And not much longer there was another accident, and then another. Then workers started talking about the place being cursed and they deserted Fairfax Farms in the night. Now, Kandee can't keep on a hired hand and his crops rot in their fields. He's too proud to ask for help, but something is very wrong out there.
