Dwarven Weddings

Execution

Courtship

Dwarven Courtship can take a decade or longer. Any shorter is unseemly, especially within Deepforge and is enough to get one kicked out of the inner city. The Courtship stage is undertaken in two parts. The first five years are spent getting to know the intended and their family seeing how well they fit together. The second part of the courtship the woman will move in with her intended's family. This is the most important part of the courtship for it will determine if they are to be wed or not. If even one member of the males family are displeased with the pairing they will not be permitted to wed and she will be sent back to her family. This can be seen as extremely dishonorable and women who are rejected are often sent to live in Silverforge, disowned from their family.

pilgrimage

If the courtship phase is completed without a hitch the couple will make a pilgrimage to the Lifestone Pagoda where they will meet with the Daelord. If she looks favorably upon the couple and grants her blessing they will say their vows before the Eight. If she does not give her blessing the courtship is annulled and they are both to return to their family and seek a different mate.

Second Wedding

When the couple return from their visit to the Daelord they are met with a week long celebration. Every day of the celebration there are feasts and dancing and the couple are showered with gifts. Upon the last day of the celebration the couple make their vows a second time, only now it is before the Diamond Lords.

Moving

While the couple are repeating their vows to the Diamond Lords their families will gather together at one of the Lesser Houses on the Husband's family lands to set it up for the newlyweds. They will bring in all new furniture built specifically for the pair over the last year of their courtship, their mothers will cook them one last meal while the children decorate the house with ribbons, glitter, and all sorts of little trinkets they had purchased throughout the year.
