30. Reunion at Copperknight Keep

The BLC is brought up to speed and heads to Copperknight Keep to plan their next move

General Summary

• BLC found Lana's letter on the baron's desk
• It was neatly tied on the otherwise messy desk
• It was trapped with a basic acid splash cantrip

That...really sucks.

Durance attempts to sneak up on Elden, who promptly disarms him. Daran enters and informs the BLC that:

• Toblen and Rosalind missing, so are the Greywinds
• As the goblins attacked Orlane, Elmar Barthen remembered the Copperknight dwarves and helped Daran get the villagers to safety
• Daran and Durance took as many people as possible to Copperknight Keep
• The militiaman Brian, Elmar and his son Ander were killed
• Copperknight dwarves took in the refugees and are helping out as best they can

Daran's Story

Before BLC left Tanglewood

• Attacked by goblins en route to Defiance Bay. Tracked goblins to Toadstool Marsh
• Stumbled into house in the swamp. Sent Hara to scout
• Found out that the rumors of the old hag were true
• Hara came back with some parchments
• She was attacked before she returned and we had to get out
• Papers were torn. Couldn't decipher, but knew that he couldn't leave Tanglewood just yet
• BLC combined scraps and revealed the complete notes
• Daran theorizes that they are hag contracts

After BLC left Tanglewood

• Went back to Orlane. Beaufort was in chains below the manor
• Traveled to Honeywell, the nearest town, to get info
• Ran into Pallegina and Varesh at Honeywell
• When he left, they were still waiting for reinforcements that came way too late
• The capital only sent less than a dozen Count's Guard and about 15 militiamen, most personally recruited by Pallegina in Honeywell
• Attack on Orlane happened on his way back

At Copperknight Keep

• Entire group goes to Orlane to pick up Toblen and Rosalind and go to the Keep together
• Daran sends Hara to follow two lingering goblins to their main camp
• As they enter the Keep, they are ambushed by "guards", but Kavalar calls them off. He welcomes them and says he could use their help with the goblins
• Fortifications are proceeding well, good progress for just two dwarves BLC sees Rollo, who insists they bring him to battle when the time comes
• They see Pallegina and Varesh. Varesh sees them and runs away

Varesh needs to die.

Conversation with Pallegina

• BLC tells Pallegina everything that happened, including Varesh's deception
• BLC asks her to make a feint attack against the goblin camp once Hara tells Daran the location.
• Pallegina is conflicted and takes time to think/plan while party rests
