Magespeak
It is true that not all manuscripts are written in Magespeak, my apprentice, but that does not make it any less important for you to learn. The most powerful of spells that you come across will be written in it, and you will need to be able to read it if you want to become the most powerful wizard you can be. The most successful mages in history have all known it is of the utmost importance that not just anyone can learn your spells, and those with a working knowledge of Magespeak will find their advancement much easier than those who choose not to study.
Visoryn Elladrin, High Elf Mage
Magespeak is the cipher which all high mages in Mythador use to write down their spells, especially the most powerful ones. Not every spell book or spell scroll will be written in it, but most anything especially dangerous or powerful will be, in order to keep them from falling into the wrong hands. Young mages spend just as much time developing a proficiency in Magespeak as they do practicing their actual spells, because it is vitally important that they be able to read and write it as fluently as they do in Common.
Some especially paranoid or powerful mages, particularly those who like to do a lot of experimenting will tweak Magespeak, creating their own sub-ciphers based off of it. Though these ciphers can still be broken by those who know the original language, they can still provide an extra layer of protection from theft and unwanted, prying eyes. These "sub-ciphers" can range from extra complicated, almost an entirely new language, to practically the same, but with a rearranged grammar structure, or new use of words in order to disguise its real meaning.
Geographical Distribution
Magespeak is commonly found across Flindreck, with slight variations in some regions, but remaining largely understandable by mages in all corners of the continent.
