The Mörschatten

I regret to report, sir, that it is very hard to come across information regarding these so-called Shadow Killers. The Shaldar are incredibly reluctant to speak of them, not because they do not wish to reveal secrets, but because they are frightened of these Mörschatten. It appears they operate as some sort of bogey man as well as an elite force of assassins. It is believed that if one even speaks their name he risks drawing their attention. Strange folks, these savages.

  • Composition

    Manpower

The Mörschatten is an elite group of assassins and spies, consisting of about 20 - 30 members at any point in time.

    Equipment

Burglar's packs, dungeoneering equipment, lanterns, healing potions and kits, forgery and disguise equipment, supple leather armor, and cloaks are among the average Mörschatten's equipment.

    Weaponry

Poisoned daggers, crossbows, shivs, slings, acid and poisons of various kinds are among the Mörschatten's personal arsenal.   Though they prefer to work in the shadows, the Mörschatten is also trained in such weapons as the rapier, longsword, longbow, and great axes. Weapon of choice really depends on each Mörschatten's personal preference and physical capabilities.

    Tactics

The Mörschatten use secrecy and deception to gain intel on their targets before getting close to them, and typically attempt to take them out silently, avoiding getting into altercations. Most of their victims simply vanish without a trace.

    Training

The Mörschatten must go through an intense period of training, spending years honing their skills and proving their loyalty to the organization before they are awarded the title.

    Logistics

    Recruitment

The Mörschatten are recruited from every level of the military, the towns guards, magic users, and, upon rare occasion, recruited straight off the street. Prospective recruits must show an aptitude for deception, stealth, and subtlety.
