S'lka (sil-ka)
S'lka
One of the things that makes the world Mythari unique is the existence of S'lka.
S'lka is a silica-like element that is ubiquitous and seemingly inexhaustible. It is the main construction material used in a variety of way by "melder's" to build and form just about anything - buildings, walls, machines, ship hulls, weapons and armor, as well as astounding range of artistic or practical creations.
S'lka is mined from gigantic, honeycombed caverns that are found across most of the continent. Once mined, the S'lka is transported to foundries and melder facilities to be molded and shaped.
The Imperium controls all the S'lka mines, trade and economy with an iron fist. The main reason for this is the great need for arms and armor for the vast military the Imperium employs to maintain control of its territories.
S'lka is also a form of terra prater, when added to barren soil, sand or other inorganic earth it will, within a relatively short period of time, make it fertile. In all of the farmland in the Imperium, S'lka is used to grow large yields of crops to feed the whole nation.
S'lka can be combined with other elements and metals to create different types of materials with varied strengths and weaknesses, some of which mirror magical properties or qualities.
The adverse effects of mining so much of this material are not to be ignored.
The Foundation of All
S’lka is an aggregate composite material, mined from the earth from hundreds of millions of years of fallen civilizations - a mix of sand, grains of various beaded metals and rock. It is mined in huge quantities to be shipped to processing plants where it is further refined into a material that can be used by melders to be shaped into bricks used in construction as well as thousands of other shapes and objects, from housewares to weapons.
