Advhand
It's hard to keep things secret in a place where everybody can read. And so Mythia has become a gold mine of secret codes and ciphers in order to protect the sensitive information of its residents. Perhaps the most prevalent code is Advhand, if one can call it a single cipher; it has so many variations that it's hard to keep track of them all. For the sake of analysis, however, it is well to consider it one tongue, with its many variations and iterations all under one banner. Used since the first professional adventurer, it has pervaded society throughout the intervening centuries.
Writing System
The base for Advhand is a fairly basic cipher, in which the letters of the common tongue are reversed in their lettering - a becomes ɒ, b becomes d and so on. Variations on Advhand tend to leave this mostly unchanged - some also flip the letter in the vertical axis, and others occasionally rotate it at varying angles. More advanced forms also apply a substitution (shift) cipher before reversing the letters. One of the most famous forms of Advhand, the one in which the clue to the Admanian Treasure was encoded, used only triangles placed at the vertices of each letter to encode a message - the triangles pointed in the direction the line was intended to be drawn in.
