Changes to PDF

The PDF outlines the rework to Bard - Half caster in spells and providing new features such as a group buffing performance.
Additionally Adjustments provided by DM souda are revamping this rework, this is outlined in the side bar below:


When you hit level 3 as a Bard you gain this feature alongside your bardic college.

Magical Secrets

At 3rd level, you learn about the magical secrets kept for singers of the word magic. You learn one spell from any classes spell list, but it must be of a spell slot one higher than your current maximum. Once per short rest, you can cast this spell without a spell slot.
If you wish to use the magical secrets spell again, you must spend a spell slot of your maximum level to be able to cast the known spell again. If you do cast it this way you cannot use this trait of Magical Secrets again until you have completed a long rest.

Knowledge: Magical Secrets

You have to change your spell known with Magical Secrets each time you gain a higher level spell slot, at 5th Lvl, 9th Lvl and 13th Lvl.
You gain a second known spell from the bard spell list of 4th level at 12th lvl as a Bard. Then you can change it to another different bard spell of 5th & 6th level at 15th Lvl, then bard spell of 7th & 8th at again at 18th lvl and finally to 9th level spell at 19th lvl.

Additional Bardic Performance

You gain Bardic Performances at level one, although now additionally at 2nd level the Bardic performance Step Up becomes available.

Step Up

Pre-requisite: 2nd level
As an action you start the performance to invigorate your allies. When you do so you choose one creature that you can see within 30ft of you. After this action the chosen creature can immediately move up to its speed and use an action.
A creature that has been targeted by this feature cannot be targeted again until a long rest. When you reach level 9th level in this class, you may target a creature that has already been targeted by this feature when you finish a short or long rest.
