Citadel of Kalydnus
The citadel of Thebai is one of two hills contained within the Inner Wall of Thebai. The Citadel of Kalydnus, more specifically, is the walled palace and administrative complex at the top of that hill, surrounded on all sides by the noble neighborhood of Kadmeia.

History
One of the oldest parts of the city, named for Kalydnus, who built the original structure as part of a prior city called Kalydnai. It's believed that the citadel wall is a rebuilt version of the original, which survived the destruction of Kalydnai, the rebuilding by Ogyges and rededication of the city as Ogygia, the destruction of that city, and two subsequent deluges.
Uncovered and reused by Kadmos the Founder to create Thebai, then known as Kadmaia, atop the original city ruins.
