Session 27
General Summary
This session began with Xavirie waking up in the abandoned hospital in pain as a result of the surgery she had just undergone at the hands of Isaiah during the previous session. She spent the rest of that night resting. Meanwhile at Tantalizing Tentacle Treasures, the party received a visit from Riner who came off-duty, alone, and as a friend. He informed the party that Gurat was doing well and that his presence during the raid of their house was nothing personal. He then offered to buy the party some time by keeping the police off their trail, whcih they gladly accepted.
The next day, Xavirie was feeling a bit better. Her first action post-surgery was to pay off her debt to Vaision so she would not accrue any intrest. After a few more days of resting, along with the help of Sparrow casting Lesser Restoration, and Xavirie was back on her feet and the party was ready to bring the fight to the governor.
The party disguised themselves as the governor's guards and set sail, with Isaiah in tow, on their folding boat late at night. Shortly after arriving, the party noticed the guards on the island had left their posts. They took this opportunity to enter the building.
Low and behold, it was a trap. The party found themselves encased in a Wall of Force surrounded by magical darkness. Some of the darkness fades to reveal the governor grinning from his desk as he looks upon his prey. Seeing no other options that wouldn't come across as hostile, the party entered a quid-pro-quo with the governor in which they took turns answering each others burning questions. This quickly turned sour as Damian began insulting and disrespecting the governor, who cast Time Ravage on Claudia to assert his dominance. Not taking the hint, Damian continued, leading the governor to cast Feeblemind on him.
While this was going down, Xavirie formulated a plan to escape the situation. She would pull out the door she commisioned and have use the Astral Key on it so the party could make their getaway. She entered conversation with the governor to distract him while she ran through the scenario in her head while Damian barely managed to get down a drink, causing his personality to change. This seemed to postpone the effects of Feeblemind and restored his intellect for the time being.
Now was as good a time as any, Xavirie pulled out the door and inserted the Astral Key, prompting the governor to cast Arcane Lock which was subsequently Counterspelled by "sober Damian". The party had entered combat. Xavirie's first action was to grab Claudia and enter the Astral Plane. Next up was the governor and his goons. He cast Disintegrate on the Wall of Force, destroying it. His goons then beat Vaision and Kit nearly to death and knocked out Damian. This show of force was enough cause for the party to surrender. They turned over their weapons and items and were put in Antimagic Shackles before being taken down to the holding cells.
Once the guards had left, they moped for a bit before Sparrow showed up wildshaped as a cat and delivered the Keys to the cells to Kit before running off. Unfortunately, however, this was not fast enough to save Damian, who had bashed his own head in on the wall of his cell. Kit opened up everyone's cells as quietly as possible, they retrieved their things, put Damian's body in a bag of holding, and made their escape down the shithole in Vaision's cell just as guards were entering the room. This is where the session left off.
