Session 31
General Summary
This session began with the party battling Tremont's father. Unfortunately for them, they had yet to take a Long Rest following the battle against Theodore and the battle against the governor, so they were incredibly run down. Tremont's father took notice and offered a deal to Vaision; if he answered all of his questions about the Keys, they would never cross paths again. For the sake of the party, Vaision took this deal and answered the fiend's many questions.
Once he was satisfied with the information he had acquired, he seemingly disappeared. Not too long after, Vaision noticed the Chain Key and Great Lock being removed from Kit's pocket. He cast Eldritch Blast at the invisible theif. In response, he transformed into a Phase Spider and Plane Shifted away. Vaision then checked his pockets to find that the Winding Key was gone as well. The party was now devoid of Keys.
Following this devastating defeat, the party took a much needed Long Rest. In the morning, they purchased a wagon so they could travel at night while resting and began their trek to the laketown. It took a week to get there.
When they arrived, they found that the town was surrounded by a wall with a single gate to enter. As they approached, a guard stopped them for questioning. His badge had the symbol of a large eye with "Everclear" printed above it and "Gatekeeper" printed below it. He asked the party their names, purpose for visiting, and where they came from. After listening to their answers, he asked them to wait there while he walked over to the gatehouse and returned with more guards and a dark haired man with an unamused expression on his face.
"Hello, all. As I am sure you are all aware, I am Alabaster Crane, Law Master of Everclear, and these last few weeks our town has been plagued with thefts. These thefts come at the hands of a posse of outlaws, at least 5 in number, that reside outside the city walls. Seeing as our records show no history of your names and you claim to be from... where was it again? Bogrard Bhul? That's quite a distance... I'm going to have to take you into custody for further questioning."
Kit protested and managed to convince him to let them go as there was no evidence to suggest that they were the thieves. As the party passed through the gate, the Law Master assured them that he would be keeping a special eye on them. Almost immediately after he said this, the feeling that they were being watched swept over the party. This is where the session ended.
