Session 33
General Summary
This session began at the enterance to the sea shrine. After some investigation, the party determined that the shrine was once above the water and that it was made to worship the Fathomless. The party then discovered a sacrificial dagger with an inscription written in Aquan that read "Divine Blood Greases the Works". Shiro used the dagger to collect some blood from Damian and used it to unlock the shrine's treasure room.
Upon opening it, the shrine began filling with water, the statues lining the enterance began firing volleys of arrows, and the columns carved to resemble tentacles stopped supporting the roof to lash out at the party. Gurat took full advantage of the now flooded shrine to create a whirlpool that sucked the entire contents of the treasure room into Vaision's portable hole.
With their new loot in tow, the party made their escape. Once inside the sub, the party realized their escape was not over; they were being followed by the shrine's guardian; the kraken. As the kraken grew near, Shiro's tentacle arm began trying to strangle him. Thinking quickly, Kit used the Teleportation Staff to transport the party to Shiro's shack in Everclear.
The party went through their loot and began discussing what they would use the Heart of Mythrael to Wish for. Ultimately, they chose to put off the decision and return to Clonio. As Kit opened the door to Shiro's shack to use the Teleportation Staff, he was struck with Power Word: Kill from the governor; Vaision cast Counterspell; the governor cast Counterspell; Shiro used a spell-storing gem to cast Counterspell; Shiro's Counterspell fails; the governor's Counterspell succeeds; Power Word: Kill goes through; Kit is dead.
Damian goes to use the Heart of Mythrael to destroy the governor's phylactery and Gurat attacks him. Despite this, Damian succeeds and the governor is transported away via Contingency. This is where the session ended.
