The Head Key
Target: Living Humanoid Creatures
Keyhole Location: Nape of Target's Neck
Insertion Time: Action
Turn Time: None
Removal Time: Action
Effect: When the Key is turned, a magical door manifests within 30ft. of the target. This door takes on an appearance that is familiar to the target and leads to an extradimensional space, known as the target's "mindscape", representing the target's mind. Until the Key is removed, the target's body enters a catatonic state and a physical manifestation of their consciousness appears in an unoccupied space within 10ft. of the target's body. This manifestation shares the target's stats and can interact with creatures and objects as usual. If the manifestation dies, the target dies too.
The target's mindscape holds tangible physical representations of the target's memories, emotions, and knowledge. Memories often take the form of objects that hold some kind of significance to the target and house unedited video recordings of the target's life from the target's perspective, emotions often take the form of a creature that is symbolic of the emotion they represent, and knowledge often takes the form of an information storage device that the target would typically use, such as a book or file. The addition or removal of these representations from the target's mindscape has the same effect as the things they represent actually being added or removed from the target's mind.
When the Key is removed, the door leading to the target's mindscape disappears and, if it's not in the mindscape, so does the manifestation of the target's consciousness. If the manifestation disappears, the target exits its catatonic state.
