Cave Dwarves

Defend against the unknown

CobaltDM - June 18, 2022
Cave Dwarves were created by Cadros to supplement his armies with elite, covert warriors that could "solve" many problems before they festered. They are scattered across Mytkora, and their subterranean towns can be found anywhere there are substantial enough caverns to support them, especially if those caves lead into The Underdark. They also provide rare herbs and medicines made with underground ingredients that sell for rather high value on the surface.

Appearance

Cave Dwarves are short and wiry compared to the other subraces, being thinner than even Hill Dwarves. Their faces are all sharp edges and angled features. They have pale to light gray, semi-translucent skin and glowing white eyes with small, black pupils in the center. Their hair is black, though many Cave Dwarves have bald heads and short beards.

Stalwart Defenders

Cave Dwarves are trained to fight from a young age. They have no other choice, seeing as many of their settlements stand as the first line of defense between the surface world and Yparxis' Underdark. They have become extremely effective at dismantling any raids or potential concerns, and it is rare for a settlement to lose any warriors. Word of their success has inspired many across Mytkora, which has caused an unexpected surge of diversity among the underground villages. The Silence has had little impact on this, as the threats have not ceased.

Expert Herbalists

Those who are not warriors or artisans usually become farmers. The caves of Mytkora are lush with vegetation that can only be found underground. Hundreds of variants of mushrooms, herbs, and trees grow rampantly in the caves and provide effective medicinal components that alchemists and herbalists can craft into potions, salves, and other remedies. Cave Dwarf medicines have become a precious commodity above ground, especially among warriors and adventurers.
