Dwarf Traits

Ability Score Increase

You may increase any ability scores of your choosing up to three times, however you may not increase any one ability score more than twice.

Age

Dwarves mature at the same rate as humans, but they’re considered young until they reach the age of 50. On average, they live about 350 years.

Size

Dwarves stand between 4 and 5 feet tall and average about 150 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet. Your speed can not reduced by wearing heavy armor.

Dwarven Resilience

You have advantage on saving throws against poison, and you have resistance against poison damage.

Dwarven Combat Training

You have proficiency with the battleaxe, handaxe, war pick, light hammer, and warhammer.

Dwarven Stoutness

Whenever you are forced to make a save to be knocked prone or moved, you have advantage on the save.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Stonespeak.

Subraces

Four main subraces of dwarves populate the worlds of Mytkora: hill dwarves, mountain dwarves, castle dwarves, and cave dwarves. Choose one of these subraces.

Hill Dwarf

Hill dwarves are simpler folk than their mountain-dwelling and castle-building cousins. They build expansive villages among the hills and are renowned hunters and farmers. They normally have tanned skin and red hair, though it can be brown or black.

Mastery of Wood

You gain proficiency with Carpenter's Tools.

Deceptive Speed

Your base walking speed is increased by 5 feet. Additionally, when you use the Dash action on your turn, your movement speed increases by 10ft.

Mountain Dwarf

Mountain dwarves are the most prideful of all the subraces, and are also the most vengeful. They live under the mountains for seclusion from the outside world, preferring to instead hoard their precious materials and masterwork smithing. They have skin tones ranging from a dull gray to pale and normally have black or brown hair.

Mastery of Metal

You gain proficiency with Smithing Tools.

Blacksmith’s Boon

Once per long rest, you can improve any martial weapon. For the next 8 hours, the weapon has a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls. This does not make the weapon magical.

Castle Dwarf

Castle dwarves are the tallest and broadest of the dwarves and pride themselves on their impenetrable strongholds and towers. They are excellent defenders and masons, and are known to build complex siege engines as well. They normally have weathered, but somewhat pink tinted skin and hair colors ranging from black to brown to red.

Mastery of Stone

You gain proficiency with Mason’s Tools.

Strong Arms

You do not suffer disadvantage on thrown weapon attacks due to the range of your target.

Cave Dwarf

Cave dwarves are shorter and thinner than the other dwarves, and could be mistaken for halflings were it not for the glowing eyes and often nearly translucent skin. They make for excellent warriors and assassins, having been accustomed to defending the Dwarven Kingdom from Yparxis' Underdark assailants for centuries.

Mastery of Blood

You gain proficiency in the Medicine skill. Additionally, once per long rest when you take damage, you may use your reaction to halve that damage.

Darkvision

Accustomed to life underground, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
