High Elves

A healthy dose of chaos

CobaltDM - June 14, 2022
High Elves were the first humanoids ever created. They live longer than any other race or subrace, sometimes reaching 900 years old. They are believed to be closer to the gods because of this, and are treated with a great deal of respect by the other races. They have a tendency to act unexpectedly and chaotically, doing this for the laughs without thinking of the consequences. Because of this, they were the first to fully embrace Makeiro's gift of magic, and became the first mortal spellcasters.

Appearance

High Elves are thin and tall like all Einfolk. They have skin ranging from a rich bronze to a pale gold and hair of copper, red, brown, or golden blond. They tend to have oval faces with strong noses and square jaws.

Infused Arcanum

There are many who believe that High Elves were infused with some of the gods' power in their creation, which explains why they seem to pick up magic so much easier than others. Perhaps this is why Makeiro chose them as well. Either way, High Elves seem to be born with an innate ability to cast at least basic spells. Although they are the most rare of the subraces, High Elves are commonly found anywhere adept mages gather.

Wild at Heart

High Elves mainly are found in major cities, but they are unable to stay in areas of high population for too long. They often have a strong desire to be in the wild where they can feel their connection to Makeiro and nature more clearly. They often spend their first couple of centuries among small familial groups in woads or near rivers to develop their abilities and mature without distractions. When a High Elf spends too long in a city, they tend to start behaving erratically and will grow irritated quickly. Even the oldest and wisest among them must get out from time to time.
