Orcs

Salt and muscle

CobaltDM - June 20, 2022
"I often considered the Orcs to be an intense, work-loving race. They do love to work, and their sheer size can make them intimidating, but the community I met outside Isyandel was anything but intense. I stumbled upon a festival of sorts, celebrating the birth of a new orc into the community. There was a grand bonfire with dancing and music. They welcomed me readily despite being human and foreign, and they seemed ecstatic to have me share in the joy of such a wondrous occasion. I nearly suffocated when the new father lifted me in a hug." - An excerpt from "The Travels of Hafrick Moriarty"
Orcs were created by Kebis about 200 years after the creation of Elves, marking them as one of the final races to join the world of Mytkora. They fell in love with the sea and became voyaging nomads who would move from island to island once they grew restless in their old home. It is said that an Orc only truly feels free on the open water. They revered Tassah for her beautiful creations, and thus were looked on favorably by the Goddess of the Sea.

Strong and Sturdy

Orcs were among the most affected by Pesata's curse of mortality, and thus live rather short lives. Despite this, they are a strong and powerful race. They generally measure between 6 and 7 feet tall and weigh between 230-250 pounds on average. They have skin tones of varying shades of green, tan, or brown, and typically have black hair. The males can have beards of all kinds of styles. Orcs enjoy piercings and tattoos and will often add more when major life events happen, although many add more for no reason at all.

A Culture of Celebration

Having such short lives means the Orcs want to enjoy every minute of them. They take great joy in their work and through contributing to their clans, but they enjoy festivals most of all. When a baby is born or an elder dies, Orcs may celebrate for days. They have a taste for strong liquor and great food, and love to entertain guests. As such, there are many diverse clans, accepting anyone from Elves to Halflings to Dragonborn on their voyages.

An Endless Quest

Many Orcs believe Tassah to be hiding away beneath the waves somewhere and are determined to find her. The Silence sparked nothing but curiosity and intrigue among the Orcish clans, and they have been searching for the Goddess of the Sea for decades now. They do not let this distract them from their other important duties or their festivals, but nearly all Orcs wish to one day locate their patron again.
