Rock Gnomes

Rock Gnomes were created primarily by Cadros to supplement his kingdom through invention and advancement. They grew hardy and resourceful, finding ways to survive in the dark caves and tunnels beneath Mytkora. They specialize in stone-based mechanisms and were the creators of the first Stone and Iron golems.

Appearance

Rock Gnomes are the shortest of the Elflings, averaging under 3 feet tall. They have pale, sometimes gray skin and dark hair of brown or black. They tend to have round faces and strong noses. They also have angled eyes with vibrantly colored pupils.

Underground Cities

Rock Gnomes tend to construct sprawling underground cities for themselves, which can occasionally attract other races, like Dwarves or Earth Genasi. They live in large family units, often in groups of a dozen or more. Loyalty to one's family and one's craft ranks highest among Rock Gnome priorities, so it is uncommon for one to leave the city they were born in. A particular craft often runs in the family. A clan usually takes their name after their craft, so a family of miners might be Rockbreakers or Shineseekers, for example.

Uninterested in the God-King

When Cadros disappeared, Rock Gnomes were elated to finally have a sense of individuality and freedom. They rejected the new king, and many broke away from the old locations and established new cities all across Mytkora. Rock Gnomes are now the most common subrace, found anywhere there are caverns to support them.
