Steam Gnomes are a subrace of Elfling that have embraced the industrialization of Mytkora and pioneered new technologies for centuries. They predominantly live in major cities, such as Djekhen, Atheles, Zakrata, and others of that size. They are often the most proficient inventors and scientists in the world, although there are some who work in the dark alleys of these cities towards less scrupulous ends.

Appearance

Steam Gnomes are taller than their cousin subraces. They tend to have curly hair of black or dark brown and olive or brown skin. Clothing is a large part of a Steam Gnome's identity, and they can often be found wearing many pieces of jewelry in the form of piercings or rings. They dress nicely and carry gilded watches and other small trinkets to show their status in the city. Males are often cleanshaven.

Grand Inventions

Steam Gnomes are responsible for the creation of Warforged, magically-infused humanoid robots with personalities and consciousnesses of their own. They see this as their crowning accomplishment thus far, though their exploration into magic creation are far from over. Across Mytkora, but especially in Tekoril, new steam inventions are being created almost weekly as the world suddenly lurches forward into a new age, with Steam Gnomes among those leading the way.

Independent

Steam Gnomes often live in small family groups as opposed to the large clans of the Grass or Rock Gnomes. They enjoy their freedom and independence, and tend to make educated decisions on their own or with a spouse. Children often leave the household in their 20s and will only visit once or twice a year.
